Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto or Henryk Gurszky is the central antagonist as well as one of the main protagonists of the X-Men film series. He appears as the main antagonist in the original X-Men trilogy, being the main antagonist in X-Men, major anti-hero in X2: X-Men United and the main antagonist in X-Men: The Last Stand. He is also a anit-hero-turned-villain in X-Men: First Class, secondary antagonist and supporting character in X-Men: Days of Future Past and the secondary antagonist-turned-supporting character of X-Men: Apocalypse and a major anti-hero of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
He is an extremely powerful mutant, and the founder and leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants. He has the ability to control magnetism, in other words, control all types of metal. He was a founding member of the X-Men, alongside fellow Charles Xavier and formed his own team, that would be called the Brotherhood of Mutants. Unlike the X-Men, whose goal is to live alongside and protect humans, The Brotherhood of Mutants' goal is to rule over them.
He was portrayed by Ian McKellen in the modern films, and by Michael Fassbender in the past films.
