Jean Duran, mostly known as Le Chiffre is a major antagonist in the James Bond franchise. He is the primary antagonist of Ian Flemming's James Bond novel Casino Royale and the 1954 television adaptation. In film, he serves as the main antagonist of the 1967 spoof film version of Casino Royale, and of the 2006 movie version of the same name. He works for Quantum and finances terrorist groups by investing millions of dollars and forcing stock market shifts through acts of terrorism. He was immensely rich and very intelligent. He was portrayed by Peter Lorre in the 1954 television adaptation, Orson Welles in the 1967 film and by Mads Mikkelsen in the 2006 film.
