Godzilla, also known in Japanese as Gojira, is the titular main anti-heroic protagonist of the Godzilla franchise. He is a famous daikaiju, or a Giant movie monster who first appeared as the titular main antagonist of Ishiro Honda's 1954 classic giant monster film Gojira. Since then, Godzilla has gone on to become a worldwide pop culture icon starring in over 28 Japanese films distributed by Toho Co., and 2 American films; 1 film released in 1998, distributed by TriStar Pictures and featuring Zilla and another film released in 2014 by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. with a futuristic trilogy in production. The 1998 version is widely disfavoured and is not considered a Godzilla film whilst the 2014 version was generally positively received and is considered to be a Godzilla film.
Despite being the main protagonist of the series, Godzilla has commited numerous villainous acts of destroying cities, attacking humanity and wreck havoc on the world.
