Azog, also known as Azog the Defiler and The Pale Orc, is the primary antagonist of the Hobbit film trilogy by Peter Jackson, being the primary antagonist of An Unexpected Journey, the tertiary antagonist of The Desolation of Smaug and the primary antagonist of The Battle of Five Armies.
He was an orc that lived during the Third Age. He was the commander of the tribes of Moria from TA 2790 until his death in 2799. He was the one who murdered King Thror, and was responsible for driving King Thrain to madness. He is depicted as wrathful, malevolent, bloodthirsty, psychopathic, insidious and arrogant. He is portrayed to be extremely ruthless and monomaniacal with a hateful obsession for vengeance against Thorin Oakenshield for cutting off his hand during battle. He is shown to be a brutal and proficient warrior. He was portrayed and voiced by Manu Bennett.
